Posted Date: 02/06/2023

Dear Colleague:

My name is Kimberly Rice and I am a doctoral student in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College (MLFTC) at Arizona State University (ASU).  I am working under the direction of Dr. Sarup Mathur, a faculty member in MLFTC. We are conducting a research study on special education teacher evaluation. The purpose of this study is to understand better the shared understanding of principals and special education teachers during the evaluation of special education teachers.

We ask for your help, which will involve your participation in a freelisting survey which should take you no more than 15 minutes.

Your participation in this study is voluntary. If you choose not to participate or to withdraw from the study at any time, there will be no penalty. You must be 18 or older to participate in the study.

The benefit to participation is the opportunity for you to reflect on strategies and practices related to special education teacher evaluation. There are no foreseeable risks or discomforts to your participation.

By completing this survey, you are providing consent to be in the study. To protect your confidentiality, I will ask you to create a unique identifier known only to you.

Your responses will be confidential.  Results from this study may be used in reports, presentations, or publications but your name will not be used. Deidentified data collected as a part of the current study will be shared with others for future research purposes or other uses.

If you have any questions concerning the research study, please contact the research team – Dr. Sarup Mathur at or 480-965-6893 or Kimberly Rice at or (602) 828-3576.

Thank you,
